High School Holiday Concert, The Slackers Bring the One Drop to Stanhope House
Also, Hopatcong CERT talks emergency response, the Pfeiffer Twins preside over a country-music open mic and sanitation pickup info.

Here's what you need to know for Thursday.
- The Hopatcong High School Holiday Concert, postponed due to inclement weather earlier this week, takes the stage Thursday night. Enjoy the work of local student musicians and singers performing in celebration of the season at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. HHS is at 2A Windsor Ave.
- The Hopatcong Community Emergency Response Team does important, lifesaving work. This group is made up of area residents who volunteer to train and serve as emergency responders. The CERT Team meets Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Hopatcong Senior Center, upper level, 32 Lakeside Blvd.Â
- New York City band The Slackers come to the area to heat up a chilly Thursday with its patented blend of steamy, spicy ska, reggae, rock steady, dub, soul, garage rock and jazz. Also on the bill are No Vertebrae, Crazy and the Brains, Hot Pink Apocalypse and Black Out Brandy—this is going to rock. The venue is the Stanhope House, . Tickets are $20 the day of the show; buy them online. Two sawbucks too much during the holiday shopping season? We hear you, and it's no impediment to a night of live music. The Stanhope House also features no cover for its Open Mic Country Sessions in the Crossfire Lounge. The musical Pfeiffer Twins are your performer-hosts for the biweekly offering, which features country-themed jams and collaborations between pro-level musicians who want to participate. (We're woodshedding plenty on the Martin to get ready to join in in early 2014!) The doors open at 6 p.m. The Slackers take the stage at 7 p.m. and the Open Mic Country Sessions run from 7:30-10:30 p.m. The Stanhope House is at 45 Main St. in nearby Stanhope.
- Keeping It Clean: In Hopatcong, sanitation crews will head to Garbage Pickup Section C and Recycling Section B. In Sparta, check with the online schedule.
