Crime in Hopatcong Down Nearly 24 Percent from Last Year During Same Time Window
See which crimes went down and which increased according to a new report by the NJ Department of Law and Public Safety.

A recent crime report by the State of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety showed that crime in Hopatcong has been on a steady decline between January and June of this year as compared to last year.
Total crime has gone down 23.6 percent compared to the same window last year, with 68 offenses that included rape, robbery, assault, burglary and larceny in contrast to 89 total offenses last year.
Rape, strong-arm robbery and simple assault were the only categories that showed an increase, with one rape this time period as opposed to none last year, one strong-arm robbery as opposed to none and 16 simple assaults to last year’s 13.

Gun, knife and other deadly weapon assaults went down completely, with no incidents reported during the January to June time window this year. Aggravated assault stayed constant at two incidents.
Forcible and unlawful entry both dropped to the single digits, with 13 and 12 incidents, respectively, last year and one and three this year. Attempted forcible entry went up to four cases compared to one last year.
