HOPATCONG, NJ — After a long campaign season, Election Day 2019 is finally here in Hopatcong and Sparta. There are a number of races on the ballot in the two towns this November, including the school board and town council.

There is a contested race for mayor: Michael Francis, Republican, will face off against Mara Modes, Democrat
Four candidates are running for three open terms on the Hopatcong Board of Education: Nicole Falconi-Shubert, Warren Gallagher, Alexander McLean, Gerard B. Gruenfelder.

Two Republicans are running unopposed for Borough Council: Bradley Hoferkamp and Jennifer Johnson.

Five candidates are running for three seats on the Sparta Board of education: William N. Washer III, James Todd Muth, Kimberly A. Bragg, Kurt Morris, Niamh A. Grano.
What will be on ballots in both towns?
Residents will also vote on their two representatives in the New Jersey State Assembly. Republicans F. Parker Space and Harold J. "Hal" Wirths are being challenged by Democrats Deana Lykins and Dan Soloman Smith for the 24th District seat.
The Senate seat is not up for re-election this year.
Current Sheriff, the Republican Michael F. Strada, is running uncontested.
Democrat Michael T. Thompson is facing off against Republican Heather Darling for the surrogate seat.
Anthony J. Fasano and Sylvia Petillo are running unopposed for Freeholder as Republicans.

Where do I vote?
Your polling place is included on a sample ballot mailed out to all registered voters. If you're still not sure, or you misplaced that sample ballot, you can look up your polling location on the New Jersey Division of Election's website.
When can I vote?
Election Day 2019 is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
