Live Stage Production of The Wizard of Oz Set to delight Newton Audiences!

Newton, N.J. – Experience the dazzling tale of Dorothy Gale’s journey through Oz live on stage at the Newton Theatre’s musical production of The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion face the Wicked Witch of the West on the road to Emerald City in search of a brain, a heart, courage and a way back home. Based on MGM’s theatrical adaptation of Frank L. Baum’s novel, The Wizard of Oz comes to life on the Newton Theatre stage bringing with it all of the magic and music that has captivated audiences for almost 80 years.

Director/Choreographer Laura A. Rizzo and Musical Director Hal Keshner , and Stage Manager Melissa Gabilanes complete the production team readying the musical for its August 18th performance. “Our approach at the Newton Theatre Arts Academy for staging this production is to reach a new generation of theatrical audiences allowing them to make a deeper connection with the story and Dorothy’s journey through Kansas and the Land of Oz,” says Rizzo.

The Wizard of Oz is a family classic that spans many generations. Its iconic classic for the big screen reached millions of audiences by breaking new boundaries. It is a story about determination and bravery and is an ambitious journey to recreate for the stage. Moreover, it reminds us of the importance of family and home life.
