Hopatcong Pair Caught With 44 Folds of Heroin, Cops Say

Two 21-year-olds also had stolen items they were planning to pawn to buy more drugs, police said.

Two Hopatcong men were caught Wednesday with 44 folds of heroin and a bag of stolen items they were going to pawn to buy more drugs, police said.

Ryan Sheridan, 21, was charged with third-degree possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle and maintenance of lamps.

Michael Dean, 21, was charged with third-degree possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and fourth-degree theft.

The two were pulled over Wednesday afternoon at the Quick Chek for a broken tail light, Lt. Thomas Kmetz said. The officer suspected there were drugs in the vehicle and K-9 Eli confirmed there was a scent inside the car, Kmetz said.

A search warrant was issued and officers found about 44 wax folds of suspected heroin labeled "King King" inside the vehicle, Kmetz said.

Sheridan, who was driving the vehicle, had six wax folds and a piece of a pen with white residue inside it, Kmetz said. Dean had five wax folds and a piece of a pen with white residue in it, Kmetz said.

A duffle bag and power drill that were stolen from Dean's parent's home were also found in the vehicle, Kmetz said. The two men said they were planning to pawn the items to buy more heroin, Kmetz said.

The two were charged and released.
