Hopatcong Restaurant to Launch Rattlesnake-Sausage Sandwich

Sabretti's adds another wild-game sausage to its list as it prepares to debut a rattlesnake sandwich.

What’s an Italian sandwich without the peppers, potatoes, onions and...rattlesnake?

Sabretti’s in Hopatcong is kicking off its newest creation featuring the wild-game sausage served Italian-style this Thursday and will become a permanent staple on the restaurant’s menu.

The adventurous idea began about two years ago when Rohan Shetty, owner of the eatery, and his staff began concocting a list of potential wild-game sausages to be served, including alligator, venison, elk, wild boar, buffalo, rabbit, pheasant and duck. The sausages were such a hit, Shetty thought it was time to add another to the family.

“Since most of our customers have tried our wild game sausages in addition to our vast list of specialty hot dogs, I always wanted to offer something new and different to the area,” he told Patch. “My ultimate goal is to provide a wide and unique selection of food that can be offered at our quick service, fast food restaurant.”

The rattlesnake-sausage sandwich will be available every day until it’s sold out, approximately 300 pieces.
