No Sparta Parade But Two Memorial Day Ceremonies
VFW Post #7248 expects Sparta's parade to return in 2022.
SPARTA, NJ — Those looking to honor the sacrifices of the military in Sparta on Memorial Day, will be able to do so Monday at the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, as well as VFW Post 7248.
The ceremony at the veterans cemetery on 75 North Church Rd., will begin promptly at 11 a.m., though it’s recommended for attendees to begin arriving at 10:15 a.m. near the location. Parking will be offsite at the Sussex County Technical School in front of the auditorium, according to the cemetery’s website, with a shuttle provided to the service. Only vehicles with the appropriate handicapped plates and credentials will be permitted to park in the cemetery’s parking area.
On Saturday before Memorial Day, volunteers from the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice will place a rose on every grave at the cemetery.
