Snow Squall Warning Issued For Sussex County

Breaking: Drivers might experience dangerous whiteout conditions in North Jersey, the NWS warned.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A snow squall warning has been issued for Morris, Sussex, and Warren Counties, and drivers could experience whiteout conditions, the National Weather Service said.

The warning is in effect through 3:45 p.m. along I-287, I-78 and I-280 in North Jersey (see map below). Drivers could experience whiteout conditions and the NWS said travel could be dangerous or even life threatening.

A snow squall happens when strong gusts of winds blow snow around. They are similar to blizzard conditions, but don't always result in snow accumulation.
