Sparta: Here Are 2021 Primary Election Polling Locations
Here are ways to drop off mail-in ballots up to Tuesday, including local drop boxes, plus where and how to vote in person on June 8.
SPARTA, NJ — When voting in Sparta, here’s the best way to find out how to cast your ballot, depending on whether you’ve opted for a mail-in or in-person voting method.
Township voters may drop their ballots off early or up to the designated time on Election Day by mail, in a drop box or at the Sussex County Board of Elections. If a resident would like to vote in the primary in person, they will need to go to their designated polling location.

Sussex County residents can take advantage of New Jersey’s early voting in the primary, if they have already pre-registered for a mail-in ballot.
There are one of three ways which Sussex County’s mail-in ballots can be counted, according to the State of New Jersey’s Division of Elections:
1. By regular mail via the United States Postal Service.
2. By depositing into a secure drop box within Sussex County.
3. By dropping the ballot off in-person to the Sussex County Board of Elections Office, no later than 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, at 83 Spring St., Suite 305 in Newton.

By Regular Mail: For residents who requested a mail-in ballot for the primary, to be counted, ballots must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, June 8 and received by Monday, June 14. There is no postage required if mailing in the United States.
By Secure Drop Box: For those who would prefer to use a Sussex County secure drop box, rather than regular mail, they may take their mail-in ballot to any dropbox location. Click here for a current list of drop box locations in the county, with one located at the Sparta Township Municipal Building.
Primary ballots won’t be accepted in drop boxes after 8 p.m. on June 8.
At the Sussex County Board of Elections: Regular business hours at the Board of Elections Office in Newton are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, though ballots can be dropped off for the primary up to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, according to the state's website.
To Vote In Person On June 8 in Sparta
On the upcoming primary day, Tuesday, June 8, the polls in Sparta open up at 6 a.m., then close at 8 p.m. According to information from the County of Sussex, Sparta registered voters can find their ward and district on their sample ballot that was mailed to them. Voters can only vote in person at their designated location.
The locations are as follows for the Sparta Township's Districts, for those who would like to vote in person on primary day, Tuesday, June 8, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.:
- District 1 at the Sparta Township Municipal Building on 65 Main St.
- Districts 2,9 and 11 at Fire Headquarters on 141 Woodport Rd.
- Districts 3 and 12 vote at the First Presbyterian Church on 32 Main St.
- Districts 4 and 8 vote at Sparta United Methodist Church on 71 Sparta Ave.
- District 5 will cast their ballots at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on 246 Woodport Rd.
- District 6 will vote at Alpine Elementary School on 152 Andover Rd.
- Districts 7 and 13 vote at VFW Memorial Post #7248 on 66 Main St.
- Districts 10 and 14 vote at the Mohawk Avenue School Library on 18 Mohawk Ave.
