Sparta's Full-Day School Return Stymied
Staffing concerns and COVID-19 outbreak delays the plan for full-day, in-person classes at the middle and high school.
SPARTA, NJ - A COVID outbreak among students and a member of the staff has stymied the plans to return to full-day, in-person instruction at the middle school and high school in Sparta, according to Acting Superintendent Patrick McQueeney.
The plan for Monday was altered in an email sent by McQueeney Friday which said those two schools would continue its hybrid schedule of two cohorts receiving alternating weeks of in-person and remote instruction.
The district's three elementary schools held full-day in-person classes rather than half-day sessions starting on Monday.

Two weeks ago the school board shared a plan to return to full-day classes on a hybrid schedule, and then switch to full-day, in-person, five-day-a-week instruction for all students starting March 29.
Those who wanted to remain all-virtual could as well.

McQueeney said in his email he will meet with the Return to School Committee and the administrative teams to review the future reopening plans.
