SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day. July 4 is almost here, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

Sparta/Lake Mohawk

What: Sparta Community 4th of July Parade
Where: Lake Mohawk, along East Shore Trail
When: Saturday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m.
A beloved Sparta tradition that was sidelined in 2020 from COVID-19, Sparta Elks Lodge #2356 plans to host the parade, with area fire departments, ambulance squads, community groups, sports teams, organizations, classic cars and other fun. What: Lake Mohawk Fireworks
Where: Lake Mohawk, launched from Beach 1, The Boardwalk
When: Saturday, July 3, beginning at 9 p.m. with a rain date on Sunday, July 4.
After the fireworks were canceled in Sparta’s Lake Mohawk because of COVID-19 in 2020, they are back again with a bang, after the sun goes down on July 3 or its rain date of July 4.
As they have been every year, the fireworks are launched from Lake Mohawk’s Beach 1, with spectators able to catch a great view whether they’re fortunate enough to enjoy them from a boat within the private lake or nearby spots in Sparta.
Hopatcong/ Lake Hopatcong
What: Hopatcong Marketplace 1st Sunday
Where: 47 Hopatchung Road, Hopatcong
When: Sunday, July 4 from 12 to 4 p.m.
It’s truly the first Sunday of the “1st Sundays” events for the Hopatcong Marketplace. The Marketplace with local vendors - the farmers market “with a street fair vibe”- kicks off its first Sunday event of the season. Beginning on Independence Day, the market will now be held the first Sunday of each month through Nov. 7. Parking is available at Borough Hall with the market across the street. Come for shopping, food and fun.
What: Lake Hopatcong Fireworks
Where: Launched From Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, 75 North Bertrand Road, Mt. Arlington
When: Sunday, July 4, with a rain date on Saturday, July 10
The fireworks in Lake Hopatcong are being launched from the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, with the club having hosted its yearly display since the 1950s. Residents around and visitors to the state’s largest lake, like to drop their anchors for a view within the yacht club; or at restaurants on the water.
Augusta
What: Fireworks, Sussex County Miners' Hometown Heroes Night
Where: Skylands Stadium, 94 Championship Place, Augusta
When: Sunday, July 4
After the Sussex County Miners’ Hometown Heroes Night game, in what the stadium organizers call their “largest fireworks of the season,” after the sun goes down, local fire, police and EMS units parade around the ball park. Why not catch the Miners’ game first that night, when they face the New Jersey Jackals? Gates for the game open at 4:35 p.m., with the first pitch at 6:05 p.m.
The Miners regularly host post-game fireworks when they’re at home.
