Sussex County Coronavirus Update: 131 New Cases, 1 More Death
To date, the number of coronavirus cases in the county is now up to 5,880. The county death total currently stands at 225, officials said.
SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — The Sussex County Division of Health announced Wednesday 131 additional coronavirus cases among county residents, bringing a total number to 5,880 confirmed cases.
Of the those cases, 3,507 of them have been classified as recovered. Additionally, the SCDOH reports one new death, bringing the total to 225.
Statewide, the New Jersey Department of Health reported 921 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 504,647. The NJDOH also reported 104 additional deaths, bringing the total to 17,464 as of Wednesday.

Gov. Phil Murphy also announced Wednesday that New Jersey will now make the COVID-19 vaccines available to police and firefighters, signaling that the program is moving on to the next phase of distribution.
More than 100,000 New Jersey residents have been vaccinated against the pandemic as the state looks to close a gap and expand vaccinations statewide.

In Sussex County, residents who have questions about COVID-19 can call the county hotline number at 973-579-9488 to speak with a Division of Health staff member or Sussex County Medical Reserve Corps volunteer. The hotline’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Additional information can be accessed by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-962- 1253 for information from the New Jersey Department of Health, or text NJCOVID to 898-211.
