Sussex County Coronavirus Update: 289 New Cases, 2 More Deaths

The county is averaging 72 coronavirus cases daily, health officials said Monday.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — The Sussex County Division of Health announced 289 additional cases of the coronavirus among county residents as of Monday, with an average of 72 cases daily. This brings the total to 5,653 confirmed cases since the pandemic began, county health officials said.

Of the total number of cases, county officials said 3,385 cases have been classified as recovered.

Additionally, the SCDOH reported two new deaths as of Monday, which brings the total to 218 deaths.

As of Monday, the New Jersey Department of Public Health reported 494,317 cases and 17,223 deaths across the state.

The state Department of Health released statistics Monday that show New Jersey had a 132 percent increase in cases associated with outbreaks since Nov. 16 and a 62 percent increase in deaths.

Meanwhile, Sussex County reported a 208.33 percent increase in cases and a 100 percent increase in deaths during that same time frame.
