WATCH: N.J. Dad's Song Silliness During Breakfast Goes Viral

Charles Flartey swaps lyrics to popular songs to fit his baby's ears.

Tommy’s still in a high chair and most of the food he eats is mush. But he already knows more songs from his dad’s childhood than most adults do.

That’s because Tommy’s dad, Charles, sings to the little guy during feeding time every day. Only the songs, while similar to what you’d hear on the radio, have lyrics swapped out to match what Tommy’s eating at the time, like cream of wheat, Jell-0, or turkey and cheese.

When Charles Flartey, a native of Hopatcong, decided to record one of his singing moments with his son and post it to Facebook, the reception was amazing. So Flartey continued recording and posting to YouTube, where his videos have started going viral – two of which have nearly 30,000 views each.

“I can turn anything into a song about anything,” Flartey told Patch. “It tends to annoy my wife.”

Flartey works at night and watches Tommy during the day, hence the bonding moments caught on video, which the baby seems to enjoy, depending on what he’s eating, of course.

Flartey’s videos have been discussed on Good Morning America and Inside Edition.

The songs aren’t prewritten and the singing sessions are impromptu, Flartey said, much to the delight – and confusion – of Tommy. Check out the videos below to hear Flartey’s takes on Wu-Tang Clan, Lionel Richie, and R. Kelly.
