Winter Taking One Last Swing At North Jersey With Snow In April

HOPATCONG, NJ — The calendar might say April, but winter is trying its best to stick around for one more day in northern New Jersey: The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Sussex County for ice and snow.
Residents in the northern reaches of New Jersey might see a brief wintry mix of freezing rain Friday afternoon, followed by snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain Friday night. Areas in higher elevations are most likely to see winter weather, the National Weather Service says, but there isn't any significant accumulation expected.
After winter's last gasp today, spring should be in full effect this weekend, with temperatures in the mid-60s. Here is a full weekend weather forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Rain and snow, becoming all rain after 10am. High near 37. East wind around 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tonight: Rain, mainly before 2am. Patchy fog. Low around 36. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday: A chance of rain, mainly before 7am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. North wind 3 to 5 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Light and variable wind.
Sunday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
