Racial Slur Gets Woman Kicked Out Of 'Black Panther' In Sparta

The woman was extremely drunk during the Sunday night movie, police said.

SPARTA, NJ — A drunk woman was removed from a screening of "Black Panther" after yelling a racial slur during the movie, Sparta Police said. The woman, who was "extremely intoxicated," began yelling during the film and used "the n-word," Sparta Police Lt. John Lamon said. She was not directing the slurs at any one person, Lamon said.

No charges were filed against the woman at the time, and she was asked not to return to New Vision Sparta Theatre. Other theatergoers were given vouchers to see the movie at another time, Lamon said.

The theatergoer who identified the woman told Patch they are in the process of filing charges against her.

Black Panther features a predominately black cast and has been a critical and commercial success. Opening over President's Weekend, it logged the fifth highest opening sales of any movie and the strongest ever opening for a February release or for a film directed by an African-American.
