4 In New Jersey Are Among 101 Best Pizzas In America In 2020

NEW JERSEY – Four New Jersey food places landed on a well-respected list of the top 101 pizzas in America for 2020, with one eatery nearly topping the national list. And now you don't have to get the pizza delivered anymore since indoor dining was reopened last week.

Razza Pizza Artigianale in Jersey City was fourth nationally on The Daily Meal's 2020 ranking of America's 101 Best Pizzas, which was released last week.

The Daily Meal considered nearly 1,000 pizzas and looked for such qualities as a nuanced sauce, well-distributed cheese, a flavorful crust and an overall balance of ingredients.

The “101 Best Pizzas in America” list is culled from what The Daily Meal calls "internal expertise" as well as other sources who scoured Yelp and other review sites, looked at news coverage of the pizza places and gathered feedback from readers.

Here is the complete New Jersey list, and their national rankings:

• #4 Razza Pizza Artigianale (Jersey City) "Razza Pizza Artigianale serves wood-fired pizza in Jersey City, New Jersey. The shop’s top seller is a Margherita pizza with the essentials: tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, sea salt, basil and California extra virgin olive oil," according to The Daily Meal.
• #36 Star Tavern (Orange) "The family-owned and -operated restaurant is renowned for its super thin crust bar-style pie. Go crazy with toppings — this place has cup pepperoni — or take a walk down memory lane with the Old School Everything, featuring onions, sausage, pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms and anchovies.," according to The Daily Meal.
• #58 Santillo’s Brick Oven Pizza (Elizabeth) "The family-owned business, passed down three generations, still uses the same recipe Lou Santillo developed in 1918, which means grandson Al has to shovel 13 loads of coal into the oven twice a day," according to The Daily Meal.
• #64 Pizza Den (Princeton) "The menu at Pizza Den in Princeton, New Jersey, features four pizzas with tantalizing toppings. This includes a classic pie with toppings of your choosing (arugula, baby kale, chicken, mushrooms, sausage and more); (and) a Brooklyn pie with fresh mozzarella," according to The Daily Meal.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven, Connecticut was named the best pizza joint in the nation for the fourth year in a row.
