Jersey City Dog That Went Missing With Sitter Has Died: Owner

The mysterious disappearance of a Jersey City dog and the sitter tasked with taking care of him was brought to a sad close on Wednesday night. Diego Chaves said he received a call that his dog Mac had been taken to the vet and was informed that Mac died.

Mayor Fulop Introduces New Legislation Around Building Safety

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop released the new legislation he is proposing to the city council to strengthen and protect local building inspections. The legislation comes in response to the Florida condo collapse that gripped headlines and captured the nation's attention for the past two weeks — a total of 32 people have been found dead and another 191 people have been accounted for.

Pete Berrios, Torico Ice Cream Co-Founder, Dies at 76

Jersey City is mourning the loss of a business and local icon, Pedro, or Pete, Berrios.

Berrios was the co-owner and co-founder of Torico Ice Cream. Berrios died on June 28 at home with his family by his side, according to his obituary. He was 76-years-old and leaves behind his wife Pura and four daughters.

Five Below To Open First Jersey City Location This Summer

Jersey City discount shoppers have good news coming to them — Five Below is coming to Jersey City.

Signage for the store is already in place at 125 18th Street in Newport. The storefront used to be home to a Pier 1 Imports. The strip mall where the store will be located also features a Best Buy, Popeye's and Target.

Jersey City To Make Single-Stall Bathrooms Gender Neutral

More gender-neutral bathrooms will soon come to Jersey City after a new ordinance was passed by the city council.

Last week, the Jersey City Municipal Council approved an ordinance that makes all single-stall bathrooms in the city gender-neutral, in an effort to make Jersey City even more inclusive and welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community.
