Artichoke Basille's Bringing Unique Artisan Pizza To Jersey City

The rapidly expanding New York-based pizzeria has been featured on national television, and is coming to New Jersey.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A more creative pizza is coming to town. Jersey City is one of five New Jersey towns that will soon be home to Artichoke Basille’s Pizza, the pizzeria announced.

The other towns that will soon house the rapidly expanding New York-based pizzeria are Hoboken, Princeton, New Brunswick and Newark. Premal and Leela Shanghvi have signed a deal to bring the pizzeria to the garden state.

“We’ve always been huge fans of Artichoke Basille’s Pizza,” Premal Shanghvi said in a release. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to bring their creative take on New York pizza to New Jersey, and anticipate that our neighbors will enjoy their pizza as much as we do.”

Cousins and best friends Francis Garcia and Sal Basille founded the pizzeria, whose creative take on pizza has attracted the attention of celebrities and native New Yorkers alike.

Their creations include their namesake Artichoke Pie with cream sauce, artichoke hearts, spinach, mozzarella, and pecorino romano. They also have a rab Pie, made with crab sauce, fresh mozzarella, and panko-breaded Surimi crab meat.

The chain has been featured on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Rachael Ray Show,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” “The Chew with Mario Batali” and the founders’ own shows, the Cooking Channel’s “Pizza Cuz” and “Pizza Masters.
