Bao By Kaya Taiwanese Restaurant Opens In Jersey City

Bao By Kaya started as a New York street food vendor in 2014. Now, they're in Jersey City.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Bao By Kaya opened its first New Jersey location in Jersey City Monday.

The restaurant specializes in Taiwanese cuisine. Its New York City location was founded in 2014. It features a wide selection of meat- and vegetable-stuffed Baos and rice platters. Their signature dish is Gua Bao, which is steamed buns filled with different types of meat.

Bao By Kaya is located on the third level of the Dining District at Newport Centre. It also offers online ordering.

One of the restaurant's founders was nominated for a Vendy Award, for rookie of the year in 2015. The Vendy Awards are like the Academy Awards of street food.

"We are delighted about the opening of Bao by Kaya at Newport Centre," said Jill Daniel, director of marketing and business development at Newport Centre. "The attentive staff and deep passion for authentic Taiwanese food will provide an incredible food offering for the Newport Centre shopper."
