Bodycam Video Shows Sen. Cunningham's DWI Incident In Jersey City
Police footage of Sen. Sandra Cunningham's DWI arrest was published and shows her unable to complete a field sobriety test.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — Bodycam footage of Sen. Sandra Cunningham's March DWI arrest in Jersey City was released on Friday. The footage shows Cunningham unable to complete a field sobriety test and asking officers to bring Jersey City Public Safety Director James Shea to the scene.
The footage was released Friday to NorthJersey.com and The Record. Cunningham was arrested on March 4 on Culver Street in Jersey City after hitting two parked cars. She was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Sandra Bolden-Cunningham, a Democrat who has represented New Jersey's 31st legislative district since 2007. She represents Bayonne and most of Jersey City. She is the wife of the late Glenn Cunningham, the first Black mayor of Jersey City, and she ran for office after his death.

Footage shows Cunningham struggling to get her license from her wallet, swaying and slurring her speech and giving incorrect answers to officer questions. According to NorthJersey.com, Cunningham’s will appear in court on Thursday in Bergen County, where the case was moved to avoid a conflict of interest in Hudson County.
