JERSEY CITY, NJ — Happy Monday, Jersey City! There are plenty of events happening around the city this week, so Patch rounded up a list of the important dates to remember, so you don't miss the fun!
City Meetings
- Monday: City Council Caucus meeting. Virtual from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Events
- Monday: Career Exploration Panel
- Explore career options with the Jersey City Free Public Library. Join us for a Zoom panel discussion as presenters share their respective industry experiences, including technology and finance. Presenters will offer insight and practical advice on how to jumpstart a career.
- Tuesday: Food and Shelter Coalition of Hudson County and HSAC
- We invite the community to join us at our next meeting as we will hear from NorthEast New Jersey Legal Services and Greater Bergen Community Action Jersey City Head Start Early Head Start who have openings for head start and employment positions. - Tuesday: Make the Road NJ Information Session
- Founded in November 2014 in Elizabeth, Make the Road New Jersey builds the power of immigrant, working-class & Latinx communities to achieve dignity and respect through community organizing, legal, policy innovation, and transformative education. Make the Road New Jersey’s hubs in Elizabeth, Perth Amboy, Newark, and Passaic are hubs for community organizing. Every week, hundreds of immigrant families - young people and adults - come together to fight for dignity and respect in their communities.
- Wednesday: Author Chat with Shirley R. Vernick
- Shirley R. Vernick is a young adult writer. She will be talking about her book, "Remember Dippy." Johnny's plans fly out the window when he finds out his single mother leaves town for the summer. She has a breakthrough job in upstate New York. He can live with his Aunt Collette but only on the condition that he helps out with his autistic older cousin, Remember. Yup, you heard it right: Remember Dippy. That's his cousin's name—and Remember is a gawky, awkward kid with some pretty strange habits, like repeating back almost everything Johnny says and spending hours glued to the weather channel. Johnny's premonitions of disaster appear at first to come to cringeworthy fruition. Still, when the two boys save a bully from drowning, salvage the pizzeria guy's romance, and share girl troubles, Johnny ends up having the summer of his life.

- #HudsonGives is a 24-hour, online fundraising campaign and competition that unites the community in support of local causes. This year's giving day will be held on Thursday, May 13 and there's a role for everyone to play. Join us as we try to reach new heights by helping nonprofits raise even more funds in our third annual giving day.
- Friday: Drive-In Movie Night Series: Frozen 2
- In partnership with Mack-Cali, JCFamilies, and Councilman Solomon, the Exchange Place Alliance is inviting you to an outdoor Drive-In Movie Night Series!Join us for a socially distanced drive-in movie night series! This series will be taking place at 107 Morgan Street Jersey City, New Jersey 07302.You can reserve your spot for $20 for each car.
