Jersey City Planning Board Unanimously Approves Cannabis Zoning
Jersey City's Planning Board unanimously approved regulations for the zoning and planning of cannabis establishments in Jersey City.

Tuesday night's meeting showed a 7-0 vote approving the city's suggested regulations, and while the meeting was the second of two meetings and open to the public, only three people spoke during the public comment portion.

Jersey City is pumping the brakes — literally — with a new batch of speed bumps.
Mayor Steven Fulop announced the planned roll-out of new speed bumps, in a Facebook post over the weekend. The city is planning on paving over 20 miles of road and is asking residents for input on which streets should get new speed bumps.
Liberty State Park Nature Center Re-Opens After 9 Years
After nine years of closed doors, the Liberty State Park Nature Center celebrated its official reopening on Wednesday.
The center was closed for years following damage from Superstorm Sandy. The restoration of the center cost $3.5 million and was done by general contractor Practical, LLC, of Ridgewood. New exhibits in the center include a discovery room a night theater, pond room and a salt marsh room.
Jersey City Chopped Champion Celebrates Restaurant Ribbon Cutting
A Chopped champion with Jersey City roots celebrated the official ribbon cutting of his restaurant, Freetown Road, in Journal Square.
Claude Lewis, a Jersey City native and renowned local chef, is bringing the West Indian flavors he grew up with to Journal Square with his new restaurant. Lewis was the winner of a 2019 episode of Chopped and is the former executive chef of Porta. Lewis is also a graduate of Hudson County Community College, where he finished his culinary degree.
July 4th festivities are not all saved for the night-time fireworks show in Jersey City — residents will have the opportunity to celebrate all day with the Jersey City 4th of July Fireworks Food Festival.
Jersey City is partnering with the Jersey City Night Market to bring the entertainment to the waterfront leading to the fireworks show by Grucci. The Jersey City Night Market will be organizing a day filled with local food vendors, artisanal shopping, a 21+ beigarten, and a music line-up of DJ's curated by DJ Luv of Jersey City's Chilltown Collective.
