Jersey City Christmas Tree Lighting Is Tuesday

The tree lighting is one of many free holiday-themed events happening in Jersey City this month.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The city's annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony Tuesday will be held at the City Hall Annex for the first time.

Mayor Steven Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council and the Office of Cultural Affairs are hosting the ceremony at the annex, which is on Martin Luther King Boulevard at 5 p.m. The tree is 22-feet tall and will be topped with a large star.

"I always look forward to the tree lighting, which has traditionally been the unofficial start of the holiday season in Jersey City," Fulop said. "We plan to rotate the tree lighting event throughout the city every year so that more people can participate and spread the positive holiday spirit."
