Jersey City Eyes eScooters, Mayor Seeks Community Input
LINK Scooters were in Jersey City on Friday for a demonstration.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City is thinking of bringing eScooters to its streets, but not before hearing from residents.
LINK Scooter, an eScooter company with scooter docks across the U.S. and Europe, was in Jersey City on Friday to provide a demonstration to residents. LINK Scooter has one location coming to Asbury Park which is the only New Jersey location.
LINK Scooter is an electric scooter that can used and unlocked from a public app. The scooters use geofencing which are a set of rules linked to a virtual geographic perimeter. LINK scooters store city maps and geofence rules directly on the vehicle. The scooter checks its GPS location against the onboard maps and immediately enforces geofences.

The scooters aren't officially being rolled out in Jersey City and Mayor Steven Fulop tweeted that he wanted to hear from residents before bringing scooters to Jersey City.
"There are usually positives and negatives to most changes so guidance is really helpful," Fulop tweeted.

We are really interested in feedback if scooters are something residents want here. There are usually positives and negatives to most changes so guidance is really helpful. https://t.co/HsXZdAELuE
