Jersey City Man Admits To Gun Possession Charge In Shooting
Hassan Mosby admitted to illegally having a gun and ammunition in connection with a shooting in 2019.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man admitted to illegally having a gun and ammunition in connection with a shooting in 2019.
Hassan Mosby 40, of Jersey City, pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. According to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, Mosby shot someone with the gun on Martin Luther King Drive between Woodlawn Avenue and Armstrong Avenue in Jersey City on Oct. 12, 2019.
City cameras in the area caught a brief altercation within a group of men on the sidewalk on Martin Luther King Drive. Mosby pointed and fired a handgun several times, hitting one person. More city cameras in the area showed Mosby walk over to a nearby home after the shooting, according to the charging documents.

When officers got to the home they were let inside by the residents and Mosby was sitting on a chair inside and told them "You got me, I’m who you are looking for. They had nothing to do with it," according to court documents. Officers found a 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun, which was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 30, 2021.
