JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man was charged in a deadly hit-and-run that happened in Bergen County over the holiday weekend.

Danny Vasquez of Jersey City was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and endangering an injured victim. On July 5, Fairview police were called to the intersection of Broad and Prospect Avenues for a report of a crash. When they got to the scene, they found a man laying in the road with serious injuries — the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers saw a car nearby with obvious damage to its front end, according to police, which started the investigation that found that Vasquez was driving the car when it hit the man.
