Jersey City Man Dies After He's Hit By Vehicle
Authorities are investigating the death of Shawn Charles, who was hit by a vehicle that was backing up to leave a house.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man was killed early Saturday when he was hit by a motor vehicle, authorities said.
Shawn Charles, 26, died at Jersey City Medical Center at 4:28 a.m. of his injuries, the Hudson County prosecutor's office said.
Charles was hit shortly before 4 a.m. while he was standing outside a home on Summit Avenue near Hopkins Avenue by a vehicle that was backing up and leaving the area. The driver initially left, but returned shortly after, the prosecutor's office said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact the prosecutor's office at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip. All information will be kept confidential.
