Jersey City Man Pleads Guilty To 2019 Fatal Shooting
Victor Lopez, 54, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter for the shooting death of Brandon Magwood in 2019.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter in the shooting death of Brandon Magwood in February 2019.
Victor Lopez, 54, could face 16 years in New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act.
The fatal shooting happened on February 24, 2019. Police received a call about an unresponsive man at 410 Monmouth Street in Jersey City, later identified as Magwood, age 35, of Jersey City.

Magwood's cause of death was a gunshot wound and the death was deemed a homicide. Lopez was arrested on February 28, 2019, in Boston after fleeing the jurisdiction.
Sentencing in this case is scheduled for August 30.
