Jersey City Man Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison For June Shooting
Jamel Armfield, 20, was sentenced for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition in connection with a June 2020 shooting in Jersey City.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man was sentenced to five years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition in connection with a June 2020 shooting. The man had previously been convicted of three felonies.
Jamel Armfield, 20, pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
On June 24, 2020, Armfield had a handgun and ammunition that he used to shoot a moving car driving on Gates Avenue in Jersey City, according to court documents. Armfield tried to hide the gun after the shooting, but it was found by Jersey City police along with five extra rounds of ammunition, according to court documents.

At the time, Armfield had already been convicted of several felonies, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances on or near school property, and resisting arrest.
Armfield was also sentenced to three years of supervised release along with his five-year sentence.
