Jersey City Recycling Plant Catches Fire Overnight
The Sims Metal recycling plant on Linden Avenue caught fire on Monday night.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A fire broke out overnight at a recycling facility in Jersey City.
The Sims Metal recycling facility on Linden avenue was the scene of a two-alarm fire on Monday night that sent thick smoke up over the building. CBS News caught video of smoke and fire rising into the air.
The North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue and Hoboken Marine Task Force Units helped Jersey City firefighters put the flames out. It took several hours to get the fire under control, according to Jersey City officials. The cause is under investigation, but officials said it does not appear suspicious at this time. No violations have been issued.
