Jersey City's South House Hints At A Reopening
The Newark Avenue fixture closed in November but has been hinting at a "phoenix" rebirth.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A series of cryptic social media posts are giving Jersey City foodies hope that South House, a downtown staple, might be coming back in time for the summer.
Located at 149 Newark Avenue, South House was a Jersey City favorite for Souther cuisine for five years. From chicken and waffles to southern-style cocktails, the restaurant brought the flavors of the south to Jersey City with its own twist. South House closed in November due to the pandemic and patrons thought it was a final goodbye, especially after the website went offline.
Recently, the South House website has been revived with just a "Stay tuned" message on the home screen. A quick browse of the South House Instagram page shows cryptic posts that have left patrons hopeful in the comments.

A post in April shows cards with Joaquin Phoenix on them that read "Rising like a Phoenix, South House, May 2021." The lates post also shows the celeb with the test "Rising Soon" over it. Patrons could hardly contain their excitment in the comments.
"F--k yes jersey city is healing and so am i!" wrote one follower, "Yes yes yes! Time to party!" wrote another.

South House is sticking to its mysterious tactics and hasn't released a hard opening date yet.
