JERSEY CITY, NJ — A new education center opened in Greenville this week, and it combines learning with health and wellness.

Victory Steps Academy opened at 403 Ocean Avenue in Greenville. Mayor Steven Fulop and Ward A Councilwoman Denise Ridley stood alongside the center's director, Keyyanna Moyd to cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Victory Steps Academy accepts students from 2.5 to 13 and blends modern theories of learning with Montessori. The curriculum at the center also includes health and wellness and mental health programs for the community and families who attend, according to the center's website.

Moyd told Mayor Fulop that she wanted to introduce education in a way different from traditional schools and her partner was a nurse who could offer insight to the health and wellness aspect of developing children.

"So then we thought, okay, maybe we can plug all of this into one idea," Moyd said.
