New Citi Bike Station Installed At Audubon Park In Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City is peddling forward along its plan to install more Citi Bike stations across the city, with the latest installation going to Audubon Park.

The Audubon Park station is the 52nd in the city, and a 53rd station is planned for MLK Drive this week. Last month, Jersey City announced its partnership with Hoboken for a unified Citi Bike program — the program will place docks and 820 bikes across Jersey City and Hoboken to start, under a five-year agreement.

As part of the agreement, Jersey City will add two new Citi Bike stations in Greenville in the first 60 days of the partnership, after hearing a need from local riders. From there, within the next two years there will be 15 more stations with the contract stating 75 percent of all new stations must be outside of downtown, utilizing community input.

In 2020, Jersey City started a rollout of protected bike lanes throughout the city using planters, curbs, parked cars, or bollards to physically separate and protect bicyclists from passing traffic in the right-of-way. The city completed 6.7 miles of protected bike lanes and has 4 more miles planned for installation this year.
