New Medly Pharmacy Set To Open In Downtown Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The new mint green storefront on Newark Avenue is no ice cream shop as the quirky color might suggest, but rather, a pharmacy.

Medly Pharmacy will open its second New Jersey location on Newark Avenue in Jersey City. The first Medly location in New Jersey is in Somerville. The closest location to Jersey City is in Brooklyn.

The Jersey City storefront will be located at 152 Newark Avenue. The space used to be the Downtown Hardware store and the shop sits in the middle of the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza.

The new-age pharmacy combines a brick-and-mortar pharmacy with app technology for a different kind of pharmacy experience. Medly was founded in 2017 by Marg and Sahaj Patel, two second-generation pharmacy owners with "a deep knowledge of the pharmacy landscape," according to the company website.

The Medly pharmacy is connected to its own app which allows customers to consult with pharmacists, schedule deliveries and manage prescriptions and allows doctors to upload photos of patient prescriptions as well. All the services offered on the app can be done in person as well.

According to the website, Medly accepts all major insurance as well as Medicaid and Medicare and private insurance.

No word on the official opening date.
