JERSEY CITY, NJ — Officials identified the victim in a "suspicious death" investigation that was reported on Storms Avenue Tuesday morning.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Benjamin Stone, a Jersey City resident. Police were called to Stone's apartment on Storms Avenue at 1:30 a.m. and officials said Stone was "lifeless" when police entered. He was pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m. according to officials. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said the death is considered suspicious because of injuries noticed on the body.
The cause of death will be released pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. If the death is ruled a homicide, it would be the seventh homicide in Jersey City this year.
