Several community and activist groups gathered and marched through West Bergen as a call to action and local organizing.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Dozens of people gathered in Berry Lane Park on Saturday afternoon for a Black Power rally organized by Black Men United, a local organization focused on advocacy and mutual-aid.

At Saturday's rally, demonstrators mourned the loss of victims in the community and nationwide to police brutality and police shootings. The rally focused on calling residents to organize and principled action starting in the community. Speakers from Black Men United, Solidarity and Mutual Aid Jersey City and The Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition advocated for residents to report and follow-up on incidents of police brutality and to make their voices heard to local officials as well.

The group marched from Berry Lane Park to the Greenville police station, all the way chanting phrases like "Power to the people," "A pig is a pig is a pig," and "The revolution has come."
