Jersey City Driver Hit 5 Cars Before Crashing: City

The BMW hit 5 parked cars before crashing into one on Montgomery Avenue Friday, officials said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Broken glass and pieces of vehicles littered Montgomery Avenue after a driver sideswiped five parked vehicles Friday, officials said.

Police saw a black BMW going east on Montgomery Avenue "at a high rate of speed," at 2 p.m. Friday. The vehicle sideswiped five parked cars before crashing into a parked vehicle on the street, said Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione, a city spokesperson.

The driver, Joseph Siocha, 21, was arrested and charged with assault by auto and possession of 50 grams of marijuana, Wallace-Scalcione said. He refused medical attention.

A video posted on the Jersey City Community Blog Instagram page Saturday showed what happened after the incident. The person recording the video said, "Oh my. Is everybody OK?" while people walked on the street, surveying the damage.
