Weather Does Not Stop Tiki Bar From Rocking
The Rock Lobsters and Captains Inn Tiki Bar draws crowd despite unseasonal weather.

Despite the unseasonably chilly and rainy weather this past Friday, the Tiki Bar at Captain's Inn hosted a full house for The Rock Lobsters' performance of covers with their own twist. Located at 304 E. Lacey Road in Forked River, the Captain's Inn had recently won a second place plaque at the Bounty Of The Bay food tasting event held at the Lacey United Methodist Church. This was accomplished primarily with a specialty crab cake dish and their signature cheese and cracker display.
Hailing from Manahawkin, The Rock Lobsters performed a few very energetic sets covering pop and rock staples that included "Boys Of Summer," "Shut Up & Dance," "Summer Of '69," "Santeria" and "Johnny B. Goode." Their set was performed in a welcome punkish and power-pop style. I know it wasn't the Miller Lites that made it appear that the bar crowd was pogoing near the stage.
Because the dining area was protected against the elements, the sound didn't nearly do the band as much justice as it did closer to the bar area, especially when it came to the vocal mix. So who cares if you had to move away from the dock area when the rain started coming down harder because my perfectly grilled burger and The Rock Lobsters made for a perfect evening of surf and turf.
