Lawrence Township 4th Of July Fireworks Rescheduled To Friday

Due to rain in the weather forecast, the 4th of July fireworks display at Rider University has now been postponed to Friday.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Lawrence Township was all ready to put up a stunning display of fireworks, but the weather forecast has made officials reschedule plans.

The 4th of July fireworks display which was scheduled for Thursday at Rider University has now been postponed to Friday, July 2. The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with music from Southside Wanderers Band. There will be food trucks and glow sticks for sale.

The township would like attendees to support the fireworks fund by purchasing a red, white and blue glow stick. From 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., players from Trenton Thunder will be present for a meet and greet.

At 9:25 p.m. the national anthem will be sung followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread thunderstorms with dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning are likely to strike New Jersey, especially after 1 p.m.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued throughout most of the state, including Mercer County. Rainfall amounts between three quarters and an inch are possible.
