Grandmother, 9-Month-Old Killed In Mercer County House Fire

Authorities are currently investigating the Hamilton Township fire that killed two people and injured three.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A nine-month-old baby girl and her grandmother were killed in a house fire in Hamilton Township on Friday morning, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said. According to authorities, the woman was in her 40s.

Authorities are currently investigating the fire, Onofri said.

According to authorities, the fire started around 3:40 a.m. on the 200 block of Woodlawn Avenue. The fire quickly spread across the two-and-a-half-story, wood-frame duplex, causing a partial roof collapse, Onofri said.

Three people were transported to the hospital with injuries, officials said.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, as are the circumstances surrounding the deaths, the prosecutor said.

An investigation is being conducted by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit, the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton Police Division.
