Daughter Donates Book In Memory Of Former Lawrence Employees

Karen Stroman Pardonner donated a COVID-related children's book to the school district in memory of her parents, who were former employees.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The daughter of two former Lawrenceville educators recently donated a children’s book on COVID to the school district in memory of her parents.

Karen Stroman Pardonner, is the daughter of Ben Franklin Elementary principal Joseph Stroman (1967-1969) and Pauline (Polly) Stroman, a former first grade teacher at Slackwood School (1982-2004). Pardonner contacted Lawrence school district Superintendent Ross Kasun and expressed her wish to donate a children’s book that she and fellow educator Amy Regan co-authored to help young children during the pandemic.

On Oct. 14 , the authors visited Lawrence and presented their book during the Board meeting.

Pardonner donated four books so each of the district’s elementary schools received a copy.

“Coping Rhymes For COVID Times”, a picture book designed to support parents, teachers, and caregivers as they help children understand and navigate changes affecting their daily lives during the coronavirus pandemic and quarantine.

“We recognize that these times are more difficult for some than others,” the authors said. “We also hope that everyone can discover something positive in the changes taking place, such as cooking and taking walks together, an activity or tradition they want to keep in their lives after we all can return to work and school.”

Wade Forbes illustrated the publication, and Kelsey Pardonner, the author's daughter, assisted with the graphic design.
