German Immigrant Served In U.S. Army Before Settling In Lawrence

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Funeral services will take place this weekend for a German immigrant who served in the U.S. Army before becoming an office accountant and financial analyst in Mercer County for about 30 years. Below is the full obituary for Karl Noll.

Karl Heinz Noll died peacefully at home on February 12, 2020, in Lawrenceville, New Jersey at the age of 79.

Karl is survived by his wife Brigitte, his daughter Jessica and her husband Ben, and his sisters Margaret, Sophie, Annemarie, Ursula, brother-in-law Wilhelm, and other extended family members.

Karl was born on March 10th 1940 in the village of Roda in Hessen, Germany. He trained as a shop clerk in the city of Marburg, North of Frankfurt. Karl immigrated to the United States in 1961 to serve for 4 years in the US Army and thereafter became a US citizen. He and Brigitte Otto were married in Germany in 1967 and afterwards relocated permanently to the US. Karl graduated from Rutgers University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting.

For the next three decades he and his family lived in Mercer County, and Karl worked as an office accountant and financial analyst in the pharmaceutical industry. Brigitte became a US citizen in 1977, and together they enjoyed many years making friends, bowling, golfing, exploring the US on road trips, and raising their daughter.

Karl was a country boy at heart with an adventurous spirit. He loved animals and nature, gardens, travelling, and learning about world history and cultures. He loved everything about America and being a US citizen. He avidly followed tennis, and playing golf was his passion.

For several years he participated in the senior men’s group The Grizzlies at Mountain View Golf Course in Mercer County. He always enjoyed meeting new people and said he was grateful for the opportunities to have a beautiful life.

A memorial service will be held at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. on February 22 with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karl’s life.
