Lawrence Basketball Teams Take Third In Holiday Tournaments
The boys and girls hosted the John Marinelli Tournament on Dec. 27 and 28.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Lawrence High School boys and girls basketball teams each finished third in their annual holiday tournament last week. They hosted the John Marinelli Tournament on Dec. 27 and 28.
The boys defeated Pennington, 55-46, in the consolation game, according to nj.com. Yahseer Oliver and Joseph Rodriguez each scored 12 points, followed by Kareem Hemsley with 10.
Lawrence opened the tournament with a 44-41 loss to Ocean Township. Lawrence held a 19-14 lead at halftime, but Ocean erased the deficit with a 19-8 run in the third quarter. Oliver had 16 points in the loss. Hopewell Valley defeated Ocean Township, 48-44, to win the championship.

The girls defeated Hamilton West, 40-36, in the consolation game, according to nj.com. Hamilton West was up, 22-17, at halftime, but Lawrence seized the lead in the third quarter and held on in the fourth. Briana Audet and Haley Lestician each had 13 points in the win.
Lawrence opened the tournament with a 64-17 loss to Pennington. Pennington went on to win the tournament with a 67-40 win over Hopewell Valley.
