Lawrence Township High School Football Team Opens Season With First Win Since 2014

Lawrence Township, NJ -- The long losing streak is finally over.

The Lawrence Township High School football team defeated Hamilton West, 26-10, on Friday night to pick up the program’s first win since 2014, according to nj.com. The Cardinals’ losing streak had reached 13 games.

Davon Hemingway scored three touchdowns for the Cardinals in the season opener on the road. His first score came on a 65-yard interception return for a score in the first quarter.

However, Hamilton West seized the lead with a 34-yard field goal by Barry Ndeh and a 15-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Hogan to Hezekiah Patterson in the second quarter.

Lawrence responded with a 5-yard touchdown run by Myles Mitchell-White to take a 13-10 lead into the half.
Hemingway opened up the lead with a 35-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and put the finishing touches on the win with a 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Lawrence (1-0) visits Steinert (1-0) on Saturday, Sept. 17, at noon.
