Lawrence Township's 4th Of July Fireworks 2020 Canceled

Lawrence's traditional Fourth of July fireworks have been canceled, but the township is hoping to incorporate the display into another show.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July events, including Lawrence Township.

Lawrence Township's annual fireworks display on July 1 at Rider University has been canceled. The township is hoping the fireworks show can be incorporated into another township event later this year.

"This popular community event takes place at Rider University every year and includes a concert performed by a live band, food trucks, music by the Bronc Radio Station and a spectacular fireworks display," officials said. "The township must make decisions that are based upon the community’s best interest. In this situation, the township determined that it could not adequately protect the attendees from the health and safety risks posed by the virus."
