Lawrenceville Main Street Announces Windows of Hope Award Winners
A 91-year-old artist from the Lawrence Senior Center is among the winners of the Windows of Hope 2021 contest in Lawrenceville.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — A 91-year-old artist is among the winners of the Windows of Hope 2021 in Lawrenceville. The creative art exhibit is currently on display in the historic district’s business windows of Lawrenceville Main Street and Gordon Avenue until July 10.
First Place went to Larry Steele for the painting “Two Pears and Two Avocados.” Second Place was awarded to “Sisters at Heart” by Irene R. Granderson. Sharon A. won third place for the painting “Northern Italy.”
Steele is a retired metal worker who has made artwork all his life, mostly sculptures. Around 10 years ago Steele moved into painting. His creations are a reflection of his own experiences.

Granderson, a 91-year-old artist from the Lawrence Senior Center. She loved drawing since childhood and began exploring other mediums of artistic expression since relocating to New Jersey in 2004. Her painting “Sisters at Heart” is displayed at The Purple Cow Ice Cream, Main Street.
Sharon who won third place is a contributor from HomeFront’s ArtSpace. She came to HomeFront’s Family Preservation Center to rebuild her life after suffering four aneurysms. Her painting is displayed at The Purple Cow Ice Cream, Main Street.

Runner’s ups of the contest are “Gallop” by Susan MacQueen, displayed at The Village Barber Shop, Gordon Avenue; “Meltdown” by Jayme Fahrer; “Too Close To Call” by Ryan Brechmacher displayed at The Purple Cow Ice Cream, Main Street.

The interactive exhibitions received 78 contributions from 52 local artists. Their artwork is available for sale and the artists retain 100 percent of sales.
People’s Choice voting is currently ongoing until July 9. Nearly 1,500 votes have already been cast. The voting form is accessible through the event’s Flickr gallery, window QR codes, or through this link: bit.ly/3zAEoQW.


Windows of Hope 2021 is sponsored by Westgate Management Company. The exhibit aims to benefit the Lawrence Township community, improve the appearance of the historic village, enable residents to enjoy art while outdoors, and assist local artists who have struggled during the pandemic shutdown.
In addition, the art show draws visitors who can also support Main Street’s local merchants by dining and shopping.
