LTPS Among 'Best Communities for Music Education'

Lawrence Township Public Schools was among the school districts honored recently in the 14th annual "Best Communities for Music Education" survey by the NAAM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation.

On March 18, the NAMM Foundation announced the results of its 14th annual Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) survey, which acknowledges schools and districts across the United States for their commitment to and support for music education in schools.

Once again, Lawrence Township Public Schools (LTPS) received this prestigious designation. Of the 2,000 communities that participated, 373 were recognized.

The BCME survey requires districts to answer detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.

Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Institute for Educational Research and Public Service of Lawrence, Kansas, an affiliate of the University of Kansas.
