LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Rider University will offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) in Acting for Film, Television and Theatre, beginning fall 2021. The course is a Professional Actor Training Program to prepare artists for the 21st-century, said the university in a news release.

Rider's B.F.A. program trains actors not only for the stage, film and television, but also for web series, voiceover, and new media. Students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to work with industry professionals in a New York experience audition course and spend an entire semester living and interning in Los Angeles. This will culminate in a showcase for agents and casting directors in both cities, said the university.

"Graduates of this program will be adaptive and authentic artists able to perform in any form of media," said Ivan Fuller, chair of Rider's Department of Theatre and Dance. "They will be completely immersed in two major cities for the entertainment industry with the physical, intellectual, vocal, imaginative, entrepreneurial skills and passion needed to be successful."

The 123-credit major provides comprehensive training in voice, speech and movement, emphasizing integrated media opportunities and collaboration with film and television majors. The program takes a four-year, phased approach to uncovering and harnessing students' individual potential while preparing them to enter the business in any medium.

"Students will receive the technical acting training, but will also know how to market themselves," Fuller said. "They will have a full portfolio of skills ready to begin their professional careers."
