RWJ University Hospital, Hamilton Allows Limited Visitation

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, recently revised its guidelines and is allowing limited visitors meet loved ones.

The hospital is allowing one visitor at a time for patients admitted.

All visitors must be 18 years and older and must wear PPE when visiting the hospital.

Patients who are in for same-day surgery or ambulatory procedures may have one support person with them before and after the procedure.

The support person may remain with the patient through the initial intake process and may rejoin them for the discharge process.

Visitors must also complete a mandatory symptom screening before the visit.

The hospital said it will also allow aides for patients with intellectual, developmental and cognitive disabilities

The following restrictions are still in effect:

• Visitation is suspended for COVID-19 patients, except for circumstances approved by the care team.
• Visitation is suspended for those who are immunocompromised, except for circumstances approved by the care team.

Meanwhile, the hospital has encouraged family members who cannot visit to connect with patients through phone and video calls.

Last year, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, and more recently in November, hospitals had restricted visitations as COVID-19 cases surged statewide.
